John Quincy Corso

	John Quincy Corso, 78, of DuQuoin, passed away at 6:00 a.m. Thursday, March 21, 2002 at the Marshall Browning Hospital in DuQuoin.
	John was a retired coal miner last working at Old Ben 26 mine.  He was a faithful member of the Old DuQuoin Baptist Church.  He was a member of the UMWA.  He was a devoted Cub fan.  John was a U.S. Navy veteran in WW II, serving from 1941 to 1945.
	He was born September 6, 1923 at Mulkeytown, the son of Angelo and Maria (Furlin) Corso.  He married Ruby Lampley on may 11, 1957 at Cairo and she preceded him in death on May 14, 1995.  He then married Bettie Russell on December 13, 1996 at the Second Baptist Church in DuQuoin and she survives.
	He is survived by his wife of DuQuoin; daughters- Karen Parrent and husband Dennis of Christopher, Laina Bird and husband Glenn of DuQuoin; sister- Mary Russell of Christopher; step-children- Sue Purdy and husband David of DuQuoin, Kathy Hagler and husband Gerald of Pomona, Dennis Russell and wife Carolyn of Jonesboro, Ark., Belinda Biggers and husband Fred of Walnut Ridge, Ark.; grandchildren- Perry Parrent and wife Amy of Princeton, Ind., Angela Parrent of Christopher, great grandchild- Sara Brooke Parrent of Princeton, Ind.; step-grandchildren- Tracy Walker and husband Bill of Zeigler, Mike Purdy of DuQuoin, Sierra Sanders of Vienna, Russell Martie and wife Tammy of Murphysboro, Lori Lee and husband Kent of Murphysboro, Michelle Russell of Jonesboro, Ark., Brice Russell and wife Kerry of Jonesboro, Ark, Leigh Ann Patterson and husband Jay of Little Rock, Ark., Mark Biggers and wife Jennifer of Cabot, Ark.; step-great-grandchildren- Candice Walker of Zeigler, Jason Walker of Zeigler, Dustin Purdy of DuQuoin, Grace Ana Marie Martie of Murphysboro, Dillon Lee of Murphysboro, Rachel Lee of Murphysboro, John Allen Garland of Jonesboro, Ark., Mikayla Goetz of Jonesboro, Ark., Corey Russell of Jonesboro, Ark., Trey Russell of Jonesboro, Ark., Haley Russell of Jonesboro, Ark., Isaac Biggers of Cabot, Ark, Elijah Biggers of Cabot, Ark.  He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
	He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers- Frank and Ernest Corso; step-son, Robert Saunders and late wife, Ruby E. Corso.
	John was loved, admired, respected by his wife, children, family and friends.  He will live in our hearts forever.
	Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 24 at the Old DuQuoin Baptist Church with Rev. Ted Clark officiating.
	Friends called from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the Searby  Funeral Home in DuQuoin and from 1 p.m. until time of services at the church on Sunday.
	Interment was in the Old DuQuoin Cemetery at DuQuoin.
	Friends may make memorials to the Old DuQuoin Baptist Church.
